On Saturday afternoon, April 5, 2025, Matt Pro Wrestling brought their latest event Rain Dance to the Italian American Memorial Association Club in Long Branch, NJ. Debuting down the shore for the first time, independent wrestling fan R.E. Porter sent in the results:
1) MPW Tag Title Tournament Semifinal - Three-Way Dance: South Philly’s Finest defeated Sons of Old School and No Colors Just Brothers (last eliminating Sons of Old School)
2) Grand Championship Tournament Semifinal - Triple Threat Match - Darius Carter defeated Smiley and Tarzan Duran (pinning Smiley). Prior to the match, Carter came out gloating and demanded a bye to the next round due to Elijah Eden’s absence. MPW Promoter Ray Ray Marz came out to inform Carter that due to his attack on Eden after Groundhog Day Gold Rush, it wouldn’t be a free pass, naming Eden’s longtime partner Smiley as the replacement and turning the match into a triple threat with Tarzan Duran.
3) “Flyin” Ryan O’Neill (representing Worldwide Dojo) defeated Joe Krule (a Long Branch native)
4) The Mob Squad (Jack Maertens and Zack Ruby w/ Francesca Chini & Joey Angelo) defeated Jungle Jim Wilder and The Irish Wolf. Before the match, Francesca Chini came out to talk smack (specifically insulting an Italian American club selling dirty water dogs) and to say on behalf of Mob Squad leader Tony Chini that they’re recruiting new members. Out comes Chini’s former tag partner Joey Angelo, who stays ringside with Mob Squad and helps them win.
5) Grand Championship Tournament Semifinal - “The Rad Dad” Radley Belmont defeated Troy Locke.
6) Pro Wrestling Magic World Junior Heavyweight Championship - Vi Daniel defeated “Sturdy” Sal Mistretta to retain the championship
7) Mateo Marcelos and Matt Anarchy w/ Ivy White defeated Cheeseburger and Vincent Michaels. After the match, Vincent Michaels received the green mist from Mateo. Just as he and Anarchy went to finish off Cheeseburger, Worldwide Dojo members Sturdy Sal and Flyin Ryan came out to make the save. After Mateo’s recent actions, and the fallout from the match vs Stepdads at Gold Rush, Sturdy challenged Mateo to a one on one match for Matt Pro’s next show on Friday June 13th in Brick.
8) West End Street Fight - Joey Angelo w/ Francesca Chini defeated “The Real Deal” Mike Goldstein. Before the match, Goldstein talked smack about how his scheduled opponent Tiffani Avatar is not there. Francesca Chini made her presence felt again to imply that the she and the Mob Squad were the reason Tiff didn’t make it, and volunteers Joey Angelo to take the spot in the Street Fight (as part of continued efforts to prove himself to the squad)
9) Tag Title Tournament Semifinal - Three Way Dance - The Stepdads defeated Frat Party and M-Squared Live (last eliminating M-Squared Live). After the match, MPW Promoter Ray Ray Marz puts over Mikey Midnight, ensures the crowd that this is not the last of M-Squared Live, and endorses The Stepdads as the best team in the division.
Matt Pro Wrestling will return on June 13, 2025, debuting in Brick, NJ. Here are the matches already signed for that evening:
Grand Championship Tournament Finals: “the Rad Dad” Radley Belmont vs “Wrestling’s Richest Prize” Darius Carter
Tag Team Championship Tournament Finals: The Stepdads vs South Philly’s Finest
Grudge Match: “Sturdy” Sal Mistretta vs Mateo Marcelos
Radley Belmont has two months to prepare. Can he walk out of June 13 as a double MPW Champion?
