LATIMER VS OCASIO: NWA World's Heavyweight Title Match in NY 2/28/25
A few weeks ago, it was announced that the National Wrestling Alliance, in conjunction with Championship Entertainment Productions and Project Codename: Wrestling, would be running a “Tripleshot Weekend” in the Northeast from February 28 through March 2. The events, as a part of the NWA ON TOUR series, will be held as follows:
FEBRUARY 28, 2025 - THE FACTORY, 124 WOODCLEFT AVE, FREEPORT, NY
MARCH 1, 2025 - GREENPORT AMERICAN LEGION, 102 3RD ST, GREENPORT, NY
MARCH 2, 2025 - MORGAN JR ARENA (WALLINGTON KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS), 67 HATHAWAY ST, WALLINGTON, NJ
It’s a great move, in my opinion, for the National Wrestling Alliance, owned by Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, to run the New York/New Jersey area. With a thriving metropolis and a passionate fan base of professional wrestling, it looks as a brand-growing opportunity for not just the NWA, but CEP and #thePROject in general.
Of course, the peak of the weekend will be a major NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship match on 2/28/25 in Freeport, NY.
JOE OCASIO WILL BE RECEIVING A SHOT AT “THE 10 POUNDS OF GOLD” AGAINST CHAMPION THOM LATIMER!
Latimer has been the World’s Heavyweight Champion since August 31, 2024 at the NWA 76th Anniversary Show, defeating EC3. He has been a fighting titleholder on part of the Powerrr program, as well as defenses within EPW, ACW, and ICW in England.
Meanwhile, the grassroots career of Ocasio has been blowing up over the past few years. “The Long Island Landmine”, who began his career in Middle Village Wrestling all the way back in 2010, broke out in 2011 at A New Era Has Begun for American Championship Entertainment in a main event match against Jay Lethal. Ever since then, his time in the Northeast, including NYWC, FTW, and Warriors of Wrestling, have resulted in titles, success, and recognition.
Now, as the face of CEP, as well as a member of the NWA roster, Ocasio has the opportunity of a lifetime, getting a chance to become NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion against an unstoppable Latimer.
To record, there has only been ONE NWA World’s Heavyweight Title change in New York, when Brent Albright defeated Adam Pearce inside the Hammerstein Ballroom on August 2, 2008 at ROH Death Before Dishonor VI.
