DAN MURDOCH & STEVE OFF: The Sons of Old School Ride Again
Last night, Dan Murdoch and Steve Off released a promo on the internet, hyping up their return as a tag team for the Matt Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championship Tournament at Groundhog Day Gold Rush on February 2, 2025 at the Lakewood Estonian House in Lakewood, NJ.
It’s been a LONG journey for the Sons of Old School.
Originally enemies in the Bodyslam Wrestling Organization, feuding over the BWO World Heavyweight Championship, both Steve and Murdoch found a mutual respect for one another as the beatings commenced.
They made their way up-and-down the Northeast, including for NWA Mountain State in the early 2010s. The Hollywood Outlaws established themselves as a tag team to watch out for, as well as respectful rivals over the NWA Mountain State Junior Heavyweight Championship.
However, as careers evolve, both men respectively went their own directions. Murdoch left wrestling in January 2014, ending his career defeating “the Good Guy” Azrieal in an American Championship Entertainment ring. Meanwhile, Steve Off staked his claim and helped become a founder for Pro Wrestling Magic, which has existed for over a decade.
When Steve Off made his way to Matt Pro Wrestling in 2024, he and Murdoch, who attended as a guest of MPW Promoter Ray Ray Marz, reconnected. And during the Gold Rush Gauntlet on October 5, 2024, Murdoch surprised Off as the final entrant in the gauntlet. Even though Murdoch was defeated, “the American Outlaw” had his intentions: to reunite their tag team.
After a few months, “Indestructible” Off decided to accept the offer. Now, both men have entered the MPW Tag Team Tournament, preparing to face off with the Vetrano Brothers in the first round.
The Tag Team Tournament brackets are as follows:
Side 1: The two teams that win the Four Way Double Jeopardy tag (M-Squared Live, Mob Squad, Frat Party, During Dynasty) & Stepdads vs Mateo Marcelos & Sal Mistretta
Side 2: South Philly’s Finest vs FBI, No Colors, Just Brothers vs Misery Inc, Vetranos vs the Sons of Old School
The survivors into the second round will face off in two respective three-way-dances at the next MPW event.
With almost a decade apart, can the Sons of Old School ride the wave of renewed momentum towards the Matt Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championships?
