CCW Presents the Bill Alfonso Hardcore Invitational This Saturday
Coastal Championship Wrestling has become the premier independent wrestling promotion in the great state of Florida over the past several years. Their consistent and quality live events, combined with a loyal fan base, have resulted in some solid buzz across the industry.
This coming Saturday, CCW is preparing one of the more unique tournaments in modern independent wrestling history: THE BILL ALFONSO HARDCORE INVITATIONAL.
The CCW Arena, located at 1411 SW 30th Ave, Suite 9 in Pompano Beach, FL, will play home to an eight-man hardcore wrestling tournament, in which the winner will become the first ever Bill Alfonso Hardcore Champion.
The legendary Bill Alfonso is no stranger to hardcore wrestling, as well as the state of Florida. In the early 1980s, Alfonso became a referee for Championship Wrestling in Florida and became known as a man who upheld the rules of the ring to the highest regard.
In 1995, Alfonso entered ECW as a true “trouble-shooting referee”, but quickly found himself injected with the “extreme” lifestyle. He became the “Man Who Calls It Right Down The Middle”, managing Taz during his rise in 1996, then joining up with his close friends Sabu and Rob Van Dam to the World Tag Team and World Television Championships respectively.
“The Manager of Champions” became a legend in the Fall of 1997, losing one-third of the blood in his body via an extreme war with Beulah McGillicutty. To this day, he is well respected in the world of wrestling for his contributions and passion towards the industry.
With CCW giving him the ultimate honor of creating a championship in homage to him, Mr. Alfonso will be in attendance to present the winner of the tournament with the gold.
