Brutal Bob Evans: Serve First

I’ve followed Brutal Bob Evans ever since 2011, when he made his debut in Ring Of Honor as the trainer of Mike Bennett. His look, which was a combination of Mickey from the Rocky Franchise and Cus D’Amato, was intriguing. I instantly became a fan.

Over the past decade, Bob’s mentorship of a plethora of talent has been unbelievable. My friend Tough Tim Hughes, who linked up with Bob in 2015 after a ROH Training Seminar, has raved about how Bob has helped his career with his guidance and friendship. Men like WildMan Kongo have also given admiration and tutelage that he has given him over the years, even through the toughest of times.

It’s why watching Bob offering mentorship and guidance with his “Hangs With Bob” seminars and phone sessions to countless aspiring independent wrestlers has been refreshing to witness.

Bob lives to serve and help. In turn, it has allowed him to have a successful career within the wrestling business. His advice has helped companies boost their attendance, promoters turning a profit, and performers build a reputation and professional decorum on how to get noticed and, in turn, booked.

So when he had availability for a discussion, I jumped on the opportunity. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Last night, I reached out to Bob for advice. Seeing and reading Bob’s Facebook’s posts about serving and putting yourself out there intrigued me. In truth, that was and is the weakest part of my game. I had to take the chance and learn, especially since I have decided to hit the roads again and get acclimated with the independent scene.

Bob explained it to me in a very simple, yet elaborate way. He elaborated some points that not only I had begun to do instinctively, but other things I needed to do a lot more of. Most importantly, he elaborated what he meant by “serving” and how valuable it is for today’s climate. After providing a few more examples, I felt invigorated and inspired to do more.

Bob’s tone on calls is uplifting. He doesn’t make you feel low nor does he belittle you for your struggles. Truly, mentoring as this is a refreshing breath of fresh air.

For any aspiring professional wrestler, promoter, or behind-the-scenes person, I implore you to make the effort and reach out to Brutal Bob Evans. He has a wealth of experience, has been in a multitude of environments, and continues to work hard in the scene today.

It will make a switch in philosophy immediately.

Thank you Bob for your help. Serve First. He does it. So should you.
