BANKIE'S HOT TAKE #74 - Beyond Wrestling "Shamrock Slam" Draws 2232 Fans
On Friday night, March 8, 2024, Beyond Wrestling ran their biggest show to date, SHAMROCK SLAM, at the Harpoon Brewery in Boston, MA, main evented by Alec Price and the INDY GOD himself, “Alwayz Ready” Matt Cardona.
Also on the card was MxM of Mansoor and Mason Madden getting a shot at the IWTV Independent Wrestling Tag Team Championships against Miracle Generation, IWTV Independent Wrestling World Champion Krule, AEW stars Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale, independent wrestling rebel Joey Janela, future stars like Love, Doug, Megan Bayne & Ray Jaz, and Beyond Wrestling stalwart Dan Barry.
The big news of the day was the attendance of Shamrock Slam. Beyond’s X account posted this at 11PM on Friday:
That is tremendous news, not just for Beyond Wrestling, but for the New England independent wrestling scene itself.
The Northeast has always been a stronghold for incredible independent wrestling. With 2232 fans packing in Harpoon Brewery in Boston, it shows the viability and strength of the talent in the area.
As for Beyond, this is definitely vindication of the amount of time and hard work that has gone into the “dream”.
When Drew “Denver Colorado” Cordeiro began Beyond in a little warehouse in Elyria, OH, many laughed at the original concept. Doing matches in front of the other wrestlers was looked down upon by the majority of people in wrestling.
However, it was ahead of the curve.
Within years, Beyond became big on YouTube and a lot of other wrestling promotions tried to imitate the vision. However, it wasn’t the same. Beyond’s innovation and passion came first and foremost.
Over the years, Beyond had evolved as a company with their vision and concepts. The Tournament for Tomorrow and Americanrana came from the Fete Music Era in Providence, RI. Beyond’s streaming series went from “All Killer, No Filler” to “Uncharted Territory” to “Wrestling Open”. At one point, many considered Beyond to be “the PWG of the East Coast”. However, I disagree. Beyond became a home for the current independent stars and the future of the industry, creating its own identity for alternative pro wrestling along the way.
Countless wrestlers have walked into Beyond and have walked out bigger stars. And that is credit to Cordeiro and his team. The company has remained on the pulse and fresh. Not many promotions and promoters could make that switch seamlessly time after time, but Beyond has been able to.
And now, 2232 people live on March 8 gave Beyond its biggest show to date.
From Jefferson Saint, Chase Burnett, Zane Silver, Corvis Fear, and Chris Dickinson to Tremendous Investigations, JT Dunn, Donovan Dijak, the Crusade for Change, and Team Pazuzu.
From ACH, Anthony Stone, Dave Cole, Mark Angel, and Johnny Cockstrong to Kevin Steen, the Young Bucks, Johnny Gargano, Tomasso Ciampa, and Chris Hero.
From John Silver, Alex Reynolds, Kimber Lee, and Willow Nightingale to Krule, Ryan Galeone, Alec Klein, and Joey Janela.
Beyond Wrestling has earned this honor. And, in this writer’s opinion, it’s only the beginning.
