3 QUESTIONS with D.M. Stevens - 4/13/25

Every Sunday, Hardway HQ is bringing back an old piece from their Tumblr days with an article called 3 QUESTIONS, in which Bankie Bruce asks a professional wrestling personality three questions regarding their career in the wrestling industry and situations.

Our first installment is with referee extraordinaire D.M. Stevens. D.M. has been around the game for a long time and has become one of the more respected officials in the indies due to his hard work and determination. With his career continuing to pick up steam, Bankie shot him over some questions to pick his brain and follow his objectives next.

BANKIE BRUCE: You announced several weeks ago that you are traveling to Las Vegas during WrestleMania Week to perform your referee duties for independent wrestling. Who are you working for and more importantly, what are you excited to see out there?

D.M. STEVENS: I will be working for Pandemonium: Pro Wrestling, 12pm Pacific at Backstage Bar and Billiards, and then I’ll be there for Dusk Pro, 3pm Pacific at Swan Dive. That is all I have for now but things can always change still!

I’m just excited to get back out to Las Vegas! A lot has changed since I was last out there in 2018 so I’m excited to do some exploring and meet some new people along the way. I used to go to EVO (world championships for fighting games). Now, I’m getting to go for wrestling which makes it all the more special.

BANKIE BRUCE: Speaking of special, you've had a long run as an independent wrestling referee. What are some of your personal favorite moments that stand out for you?

D.M. STEVENS: There’s so many! Just because it’s recent, it was awesome to be able to present Vi Daniel his first singles championship in wrestling. The week before that, I got to present the inaugural ETU Atlantic Tag Team Championships to the Killionaires Club.

The common thread there is hard work paying off. That's stuff I like to not only see, but great to be a small part of that moment too, which makes it a favorite of mine.

BANKIE BRUCE: At one time, you were a young independent wrestler. We've actually covered your second ever match against Chris Banks here on the site. Plus, a little known fact is that Jon Harder, founder of HQ,  called your match against your long-time friend David Potter. Have to ask it...do you think you’ll ever have one more match?

D.M. STEVENS: I would be lying if I said I didn’t. I will always have that competitor in me, it’ll never go away. As I write this out, I feel that at 37 I’m in the best shape of my life. So would I like to have at least one more match? Yes. Will it happen though? That’s left to be seen.

We wish D.M. all his success as he travels to Vegas for WrestleMania Week, as well as his career. One of the good ones, you can follow him on X at @refdmstevens.
